Lakkavarapukota mandal records highest rainfall

VIZIANAGARAM: The entire district is experiencing heavy to very heavy rains occasionally during the last 24 hours. The average rainfall recorded till 8.30 a.m. on Friday was 77.5mm. Lakkavarapukota mandal received 174.3 mm rain, the highest so far, followed by Bhogapuram 168.7mm, Kothavalasa 159.2mm, Denkada 151.6 mm, Poosapatirega 146.8 mm, Vizianagaram 126.4 mm, S. Kota 114 mm, Cheepurupalli 111 mm, Vepada 109 mm, Garividi 103.8 mm, Jami 102.4 mm, Gurla 87.8 mm and Gantyada 84.2 mm. Makkuva recorded the lowest rainfall of 6.2 mm. In other mandals rainfall recorded was between 30.6 mm and 72.8 mm. As a result of downpour, water levels in dried-up tanks have been increasing. There was no loss of human life and property reported so far.
Scattered rainfall
Kakinada: East Godavari received scattered rainfall on Friday under the influence of the cyclone ‘Laila' which left a trail of destruction. Day temperatures came down providing relief to the people from heat wave conditions that prevailed till two days ago. Kirlampudi mandal received 10.9 cm of rainfall and the lowest 1.14 cm was recorded in Rajavommangi.
