45 detained in Tamang murder case
Special Correspondent
KOLKATA: The police have detained 45 people in connection with the killing of Madan Tamang, president of the Akhil Bharatiya Gorkha League, in Darjeeling on Friday and launched a search for the six persons named in the first information report filed by the ABGL.
IGP (North Bengal) K.L. Tamta told The Hindu that ABGL secretary Laxman Pradhan said in his FIR that this was a premeditated murder by supporters of the youth and students' wing of the Gorkha Janamukti Morcha.
Monks prayed in silence and admirers paid their homage at Tamang's residence where his body was kept. The common people openly denounced the killing.
