‘Clean technology for Haldipur port'

Correspondent

SIRSI: The State Government will set up a medium-level port at Haldipur in Uttara Kannada district. The project will be taken up on the Private Public Partnership (PPP) model, Minister for Port and Inland Water Transport J. Krishna Palemar said in Swarnawalli Math on Tuesday. Addressing a gathering after inaugurating a two-day Krishi and Biodiversity Mela, Mr. Palemar said that the residents were concerned about the effects of the port on the environment and had been opposing it, but the new port would be constructed with clean technology that would not harm the environment. He said that illegal ore transport from Belekeri port had been brought under control.
