A landmark for a unique movement

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: Thousands of members of the Kudumbasree mission joined a colourful rally defying incessant drizzle on Tuesday morning ahead of the inauguration of 12 {+t} {+h} anniversary celebrations of the mission in the city. Starting from Rajendra Maidan, the women carried placards, and bunches of paddy stalks as they sang to the rhythm of traditional ‘chenda.'

It was a show of strength by women, who have become harbingers of major changes in society through the intervention of the Kudumbasree mission. Inaugurated in Malappuram 12 years ago, the mission has grown into a platform for integrated development of women and their empowerment.
