Boys outshine girls in Theni

THENI: Boys emerged toppers in both matric and SSLC exams in the district, pushing girls to second and third positions.

P. Sankaranath of Nadar Saraswathi HSS, Theni, secured the district top rank in SSLC exam by scoring 492 marks and H. Noorul Hakkim of Santiniketan Matriculation School, Theni, emerged the district topper in matric exams with 484 marks.

In SSLC exam, second and third ranks were shared by three students each. B. Vishnu Bharathi of NSKP HSS, Goodalur, and K. Poomalai and P. Gayathri, both students of ZKM HSS, Bodi, secured second rank in the district by scoring 491 each.

Similarly, S. Suganya of NS Girls HSS, G. Shanthini of ZKM HSS and V. Abinaya of SUM HSS, Royappanpatti, scored 490 marks each and shared the district third rank. Vishnu Bharathi was also the state topper in Tamil with 99 marks in language paper.

While Sankaranath decided to take up medicine, Poomalai, who wished to become an IAS officer, has been working in a textile shop in Bodi in the evening to foot his education expenses.

Matric exams

Students of Santiniketan MHSS bagged the district first and third ranks in matriculation exam leaving the second rank to TKS, MHSS, Theni.

H. Noorul Hakim of Santiniketan scored 484 marks and emerged the district topper in Matric exams. He also scored highest marks in English, Maths and Science subjects in the district.

G. Abarna alias Kaviyashree of the same school shared her district third rank with T. Padma Prabha of TKS MHSS and V. Sruthi of SSVM HSS, Cumbum. All the three scored 478 marks each. The district second rank was secured by M. Vineeth Prabhu of TKS MHSS.

Noorul and Vineeth Prabhu want to become aeronautical engineers and Padma Prabha wished to take up research in aero space.

The Santhi Niketan School, which sent the first batch of eighty students for matric exam this year, achieved cent per cent results.

Sixteen students got centum in maths and five in science, according to the Principal Gopal.
