HARD WORK: K.Abhinaya who came first in Tiruvarur district and Mohammed Abdul Khadar, second ranker, in the tenth standard examinations.
TIRUVARUR: K.Abhinaya of St.Joseph's Girls Higher Secondary School, Mannargudi came first in Tiruvarur district in the tenth standard examinations, the results for which were announced on Wednesday. She scored 489 out of 500. Two students came second scoring 488 out of 500.They are Sharada Preeta of GRM Higher Secondary school, Tiruvarur and Mohammed Abdul Khader of Government High School, Kollapuram. Five students came third in the district scoring 487 out of 500. They are Aswini Devi, Ayeesha Parveen, Vaishnavi Devi and Monisha-all students of GRM Higher Secondary school, Tiruvarur and Sumitra Devi of St.Joseph's Girld Higher Secondary school, Mannargudi. Out of 15,457 students who wrote the examinations, 12,816 passed out. The district recorded a 82.91 pass percentage. Out of the total students, 7030 boys wrote the examinations out of whom 5,604 passed out registering 79.72 per cent. A total of 8,427 girls wrote the examinations. A total of 7,212 passed out registering 85.58 per cent. In the Matriculation stream, Sushmita of Brilliant Matriculation Higher Secondary school, Muthupettai came first in the district scoring 476 out of 500. Ajay Norman of Ashok Srushti Vidya Mandir, Mannargudi, came second scoring 474 out of 500. Two students came third scoring 473 out of 500. They are P.Rahul of St.Antony's Matriculation Higher Secondary school, Thiruthuraipoondi and J.Eswari of JV Matriculation Higher Secondary school, Mannargudi.
