TIRUCHI: The Trichy District Consumer Movement has appealed to the Central government not to further hike the prices of petrol and diesel. It urged the Centre to reduce the price of fuel that was hiked earlier. A resolution to this effect was adopted at a meeting of the movement held here recently. The meeting was presided over by its president J. Selvaraj. Another resolution appealed to the State government to identify those private schools that charged higher fees and withdraw the powers given to such institutions. While thanking the district administration for taking efforts in detecting expired food products and initiating necessary action, it appealed to the authorities to continue with this action, a press release here said.
