THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The former manager of the SBT football team K. Rajeev has been selected as one of the volunteers for the FIFA World Cup 2010 to be held in South Africa. Rajeev was among 75,000 candidates from around the world who had applied for the 15,000 volunteers posts when FIFA invited applications in July 2009. After initial screening, there was a personal interview by FIFA representatives at the South African Consulate in Mumbai in February. After online training and assessment, accreditation was issued and he is assigned the protocol functional area in Johannesburg. He will leave for South Africa on June 9.
