Kochi:A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Friday issued notice to the State government and other respondents on a writ petition seeking to restrain aided schoolteachers and staff from contesting elections to various bodies, including the Assembly and Parliament. The notice was issued by the Bench of Justice C.N. Ramachandran Nair and Justice P. S.Gopinathan. According to Moosa A.S, manager, AMLP School, Mannarkkad, Palakkad, as per the provisions of the Kerala Government Service Conduct Rules, government employees, including government teachers, were barred from contesting elections. However, the rules had not been made applicable to the teachers and non-teaching staff of aided schools. Aided schools were governed and regulated by the Kerala Education Rules. There was no justification for not making the conduct rules applicable to the teachers and non-teaching staff of aided schools. Serial shooting Justice S. Siri Jagan directed the Kerala State Council for Child Welfare to stop the shooting of a serial on the premises of the council in Thiruvananthapuram. The interim order was passed on a writ petition filed by P. Anilkumar, general secretary, Thiruvananthapuram District Congress Committee, and a member of the council. The petitioner alleged that P. Krishnan, secretary of the council, had allowed K.K. Rajeev, serial director, to shoot a serial in the auditorium, restroom and doll museum on the premises of the council. It was causing inconvenience and hardship to the children there.
