KOCHI: The afternoon session of “Courses and choices, sessions on professional streams and more,” organised by The Hindu-EducationPlus at A.J. Hall here on Saturday, introduced students to various career options outside the popular streams. This included possibilities of pursuing career in sectors like aviation, logistics, animation and accountancy. Experts from these sectors introduced the students to the potential and also cleared doubts on them. The afternoon session began with career guidance and human resource training expert P.R. Venkita Raman leading the class on ‘careers in accounting and finance'. He stressed the academic outlook needed to pursue a career in accounting and commerce, unlike the abstract learning required for science streams. He was followed by C.I. Noushad, international logistics specialist and corporate trainer, who lectured on the vast potential offered by logistics in the global commercial scene. He told the audience that logistics is the frame behind international shipping, which has recorded regular growth even during recession phase. Easo Thampy Mathew, animation expert, conducted a session on the increasing potential of India as the animation hub, in view of the narrative skills and technical competence of the work force available here. Explaining the possibilities of the aviation sector, Vikram Varma, aviation trainer, said the industry was poised to take a big leap ahead, with the surge in hospitality and tourism industries. In the last session, Anand Sharma, education consultant, told the students about various options available for studying abroad and asked them to be careful in choosing the institution. SBT was the presenting sponsor of the event. The associate sponsors were Co-operative Academy of Professional Education, and ShadWell'S. Kairali channel was the TV partner and Club FM the radio partner.
