Share-auto passenger robbed

CHENNAI: A passenger in a share-auto was allegedly robbed of 15 sovereigns of jewellery by a three-member gang at Panaiyur on Friday.

According to police sources, Lakshminarayanan (34) of Koyambedu was going to Thiruvanmiyur in the share-auto from Kanathur, when three persons boarded the vehicle at Panaiyur.

A little later, one of the suspects forced the driver to stop along the roadside while the two others robbed Lakshminarayanan of his jewellery, mobile phone and Rs.1,000 cash at knife-point. The Neelankarai police are investigating.
