Storage facility sought
KAKINADA: The East Godavari district administration sought the State government facility to store 42,000 metric tonnes of levy rice and at least 60 railway rakes to cart the rice.
Joint Collector K. Sasidhar, in a statement here on Friday, said that millers from the district were ready to buy the levy rice, but non-availability of godowns to store the produce was posing a challenge to them. He said that the issue was brought to the notice of Commissioner of Civil Supplies Sanjay Jaju during a videoconference on levy rice. “The Commissioner advised us to keep the copies of dynamic registers in all fair price shops and ensure that rice should be supplied to the beneficiaries as per the registers,” Mr. Sasidhar said.
He said that eligibility of the beneficiaries of ‘Antyodaya' cards would be verified thoroughly.
