Two shops in Anantapur drew quotes of Rs. 1.92 lakh and Rs. 1.97 lakh respectively ANANTAPUR: As many as 885 tenders have been received from prospective bidders in the auctioning of 236 liquor shops in the district. The district Excise department is expecting to earn revenue of Rs. 113 crore in the 2010-11 excise year which is 15% excess over last year's excise revenue of Rs. 97 crore. However, going by the present trends available in the liquor shops in the district, the revenue is expected to shoot up to nearly Rs. 200 crore. Two shops in the city, one at Ramnagar and the other near the RTC complex, alone had quoted the highest of Rs. 1.92 lakh and Rs. 1.97 lakh respectively. The two shops are expected to give nearly Rs. 4 crore revenue to the department. The tenders have been opened on Monday for all the 236 shops under the supervision of District Collector B. Janardhan Reddy, presided over by Excise Superintendent Satya Prasad. The tenders were opened by the Collector Janardhan Reddy and the process of finalisation of tenders for all the 236 shops was on progress and is expected to conclude on the midnight of Monday. Allocation Mandal-wise Dharmavaram received 115 tenders, Kalyandurgam 73, Kambaduru 27, CK Palle 14, Penukonda 118, Puttaparthy 59, Hindupur 103, Kadiri 94, Tanekal 55, Madakasira 65, Anantapur 372, Gooty 95, Guntakal 112, Uravakonda 102, Tadipatri 53, Singanamala 86, Kanekal 27 and Rayadurgam 38. The total number of applications received for the 236 shops in the district was 885. The government has fixed a target of Rs. 113 crore revenue for the district but surprisingly the revenue is expected to be doubled, according to indications from the Excise Superintendent Satya Prasad.
