PRECIOUS COMMODITY:Fearing a hike in the prices of petrol and diesel motorists queue up at a petrol bunk in the city on Monday.
HYDERABAD: People in the city resorted to panic buying of petrol and diesel as the news of a possible price hike was announced on Monday.
Though the Union government deferred the decision to hike the fuel prices for the time being, the probability of a price hike led to long queues in front of petrol pumps, with many pumps running dry by Monday evening.
The decision was put off after the Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) headed by Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said that another meeting of the group was required before a final decision on the issue could be taken.
