IFA announces revamped women's league

Kolkata: A total of 13 teams from the city and its neighbourhood will take part in the revamped Women's Football League, which found a sponsor for the first time.

Simoco Mobiles, a local cell phone brand, has come ahead in aid of the Indian Football Association organised women's league which was struggling for survival in the absence of funds.

The tournament will be played in a straight round-robin league format and will get underway on June 21 in two district venues: Khardah and Makardah. A total of 78 matches will be played and the organiser hopes to wrap up the tournament in two months.
