National tenpin bowling

BANGALORE: The 22nd National tenpin bowling championship, which gets underway from June 13, would showcase the talent of 80 men and 20 women from 20 States, including the members of the National Elite squad.

For the first time, the National has a title sponsor in Aircel and Marg Construction as co-sponsor.

The men's field includes the 54-year veteran Harshvardhan Sarda, who still reigns as the National champion.

The women's champion, Prathima Hegde of Bangalore, despite recovering from injury, will be seen in action along with Sabeena Saleem of Tamil Nadu and Sumanthi Nallabantu of A.P.

The players will be eliminated based on cumulative pinfalls at the end of each round .After three rounds, the top eight would go into the quarterfinals knock-out. The finals are scheduled on June 20. — Special Correspondent
