Green cause:Additional Deputy Commissioner MYSORE: As part of monthlong World Environment Day celebrations taken up by a group of institutions here, the steps leading to the temple of Goddess Chamundeshwari atop the Chamundi Hills were cleaned and saplings of medicinal plants planted along the walkway on Saturday. As part of the “Biodiversity campaign – drawing institutions to community”, the organisers, supported by volunteers, cleaned the walkway, put up posters to create awareness on biodiversity and planted medicinal plants along the footpath. Additional Deputy Commissioner C.G. Betsurmath inaugurated the programme by planting a sapling of a medicinal plant. Regional Environmental Officer B.M. Prakash and students of the Government Ayurveda College were present. Wurth Elektronik India Private Ltd., Global Integrated Professional Services, Nathan and Nathan Centre for Technology Services and Srujana Foundation had jointly organised the programme. In the first week of the celebrations, the organisers had planted medicinal plants in the surroundings of Kukkarahalli lake.
