It is centred on history, sculptural glory, festival of Arunachaleswarar temple and the town Tiruvannamalai: A documentary film on Tiruvannamalai as a pilgrimage centre, jointly produced by the HR&CE Department and Sri Arunachaleswarar Temple, was released here on Saturday. P.R. Sampath, Commissioner of HR&CE, gave an introduction about the film before the maiden screening at the open air auditorium in the temple. The 28-minute film is centred on history, sculptural glory, religiosity, festival and customs of the temple and the town. Collector M.Rajendran, MLA K.Pichandi, Joint Commissioner/Thakkar of the temple P.Padmanaban and Dhanusu, Chairman, Board of Trustees of the temple, were among the audience. Directed by Parameswar, the film has been edited by Ashok Kumar. It contains a lot of information for lay viewers. Delivering the introductory speech, Mr. Sampath said that the movie will be screened several times daily at the temple for the pilgrims. “This is the first time the department is producing such a film on a temple. Similar documentaries would be produced on other important temples of the State such as Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple and Palani Thandayuthapani Temple,” he added. When asked whether the DVD of the film would be sold to the public, Mr. Sampath said “it is yet to be decided.”
