Consumer protection programme held

CHENNAI: A host of issues such as fake drugs, food adulteration, misleading advertisements and Right to Information Act were discussed at the ‘Capacity building training for consumer protection' programme, organised by the Tamil Nadu Consumer Protection Organisation here on Sunday.
Nearly 200 volunteers from various self-help groups participated. They were imparted training on consumer rights and protection. A resolution demanding setting up of a vigilance committee for public distribution system was passed.
The organisation president C.Paul Barnabas, G.Lakshman, Divisional Treasurer of Southern Railway Mazdoor Union, and consumer activists spoke.
