Robbery at knifepoint

Tirupur: Two men who came on a motorcycle robbed around 7.5 sovereigns of jewellery from Ganesh (19) at knifepoint at Avinashi near here on Saturday evening.

According to police sources, Ganesh was standing inside a shop run by his grandmother when the incident happened.

In another incident two youth in a car intercepted the moped driven by M. Valarmathi (22) and robbed her of a six-sovereign chain at Vellakoil on the same day.

Found dead

A dyeing unit employee was found murdered near Palladam on Sunday.

Police said the dead, identified as Rajagopal (72), had died of head injuries.
