Woman arrested

Chennai: The Secretariat Colony police on Saturday arrested a 40-year-old woman, who allegedly stole diamond jewellery and cash from the house where she was working as domestic help. Police sources said Chamundi of Prakasham Road in Nammalwarpet was arrested following a complaint lodged by her employer Nirmal, a resident of 4th Street in Secretariat Colony.

Chamundi had reportedly stolen diamond jewellery and Rs. 25,000 cash that were later recovered from her, sources said. She was remanded to custody and sent to prison on Sunday.
