NIZAMABAD: The Zilla Parishad general body meeting, held here on Tuesday, unanimously passed a resolution demanding the government release the Singur reservoir water for drinking and cultivation purposes in the district. It also resolved to urge the government to enhance the funds to the Employment Guaranty Scheme to undertake “material works” wherever they required. Initiating the discussion in the beginning of the meeting, the ZPTC member from Dichpally (TDP), K. Dinesh expressed displeasure at the functioning of the Agriculture Department saying that it failed to draw an Action Plan for the kharif season. The other Opposition members too strongly condemned the failure of the officials. In reply to the members concerned the Joint Director (Agriculture) Tulasi Prasad, said the Action Plan would be ready within ten days. All possible steps would be taken to supply agriculture inputs and implements on time, he said. The meeting witnessed pandemonium for a few minutes when the chairman K. Venkataramana Reddy and the TDP floor leader V. Mohan Reddy traded charges and counter charges on each other as regards the sanction of funds to the Rural Water Supply works.
