AMBUR: A new Employees' State Insurance (ESI) Corporation Dispensary has been established at Ambur. About 20,000 employees and their families will benefit from the dispensary. Labour Minister T.M. Anbarasan and Law Minister Durai Murugan will participate in the inauguration on Friday.
According to Health Department officials, the dispensary has been constructed with funds allotted by the ESI Corporation. Around Rs. one crore has been spent towards the dispensary.
“It consists of a general Outpatient Department. There will be four doctors at the department. The local office of ESI is situated on the first floor of the building,” an official said.
Many of the employees covered by the dispensary, that is insured persons, are tannery workers. In case, specialist care is required, the patients will be referred to the nearby government hospital. For surgeries, they will be referred to the ESI Hospital at Vellore,” the official said.
