COIMBATORE: “We have to make use of Information Technology and computer networking to the extent possible to make Tamil an internationally renowned language,” Rajya Sabha MP and Secretary for Academic Sessions of the World Classical Tamil Conference Kanimozhi said here on Wednesday.

Addressing student volunteers involved in the Internet Tamil conference, Internet exhibition, and IT co-ordination committee at Bharathiar University, she said that though the Internet Tamil conference (part of the World Classical Tamil Conference) was taking place for the ninth time, this was the first time it was being held on such a large scale.

Minister for Information and Technology Poongothai Aladi Aruna said though computers and Internet had reached the common man to a certain extent, it was blogging and Facebook that had made it more user-friendly and accessible.
