Nagercoil: Around 213 cusecs of water from Pechipparai Dam was released for irrigation purpose on Thursday. According to Public Works Department sources, water from the Pechipparai dam was closed following a leakage at a channel, situated 100 metres away from the dam. The officials took immediate steps to plug the leakage and the dam was opened on Thursday. Heavy rain However, widespread rain lashed different parts of the district and the sky remained overcast throughout the district on Thursday. The water level in Pechipparai Dam stood at 25.95 feet, 42.5 feet in Perunchani, 6.29 feet in Chittar I and 6.39 feet in Chittar II.
