VIZIANAGARAM: In view of the shortage of seeds, World Vision (Karunamayi) here has decided to enlighten farmers on seed development and storage for use in future. As part of the programme it has identified four villages, Kotha Velagada, Vasaadi, Penta Sriramapuram and Ravi Valasa in Gantyada mandal for the purpose. Seed development in about 70 acres of land in each village was planned. The seed developed would be stored for supply to needy farmers in the mandal. To give shape to its plan, World Vision on Friday conducted Rythu Sadassu to create awareness programme on seed development among farmers from the said villages. V.J. Vara Prasad, former Assistant Regional Director and K. Jairaj, former Technical Officer of Indian Grain Storage Management and Research Institute, Hyderabad, who were the resource persons, detailed the measures to be adopted for developing and storing seed for use in future. The World Vision would play a key role with the assistance of Agriculture Department for the success of the programme. Sunder Rao, Community Development Coordinator of World Vision and a number of farmers participated in the sadassu.
