Rahim and Muhilazhagan hog limelight

DINDIGUL: M. Abdur Rahim (117) and R. Muhilazhagan (six for 30) starred in the wins of their respective teams, St. Peter's CC and Sri Vasantha Sweets CC, in the TNCA-Dindigul DCA first division cricket league here.

The scores: First division: St. Peter's 292 for nine in 47 overs (M. Abdur Rahim 117, M. Mohammed Raffik 72, S. Karthick three for 51) bt Sri Vasantha Sweets 165 in 46.3 overs (T. Devendrakumar 53, S. Balasubramani three for three, G. Thangaraj three for 35).

Yuvaraj 173 for nine in 35 overs (M. Senthilvelavan 35, R. Dayalan four for 34) bt Majestic 167 for nine in 35 overs (R. Ganesh 51, A. Lakshminarayanan 50, S. Gunasekaran four for 32).

Jahir 135 in 38.4 overs (P. Gopi 30, R. Muhilazhagan six for 30) lost to Sri Vasantha Sweets 138 for three in 25.4 overs (R. Krishnamohan 53 n.o., K. Thangapandi 46).

Senthil shines

Senthil's all-round show (five for 38 & 31) was the highlight of Power CC's two-wicket win over Pope's CC in the TNCA-Tuticorin DCA ‘B' division cricket league in Tuticorin.

The scores: B division: Pope's 147 in 32.1 overs (Arun 40, Jegan 31, Senthil five for 38) lost to Power 148 for eight in 27.5 overs (Rajesh 33, Senthil 31). TRC ‘A' 174 in 24.5 overs (Babu 65, Sundar 32, Venkatesh five for 27) bt ASKR 135 in 23.1 overs (Gandhimathinathan 25, Suresh 25, Sandal five for 27). Seconds ‘B' 97 in 25.1 overs (Janardhanan 52 n.o., Sankar four for 30) lost to Youth 101 for eight in 22 overs .

Cricket trials

Trials to select the Tuticorin district under- 22, 19, 16 and 14 cricket teams for the inter-district tournaments will be held at Kamaraj College, Tuticorin, on June 19 from 2 p.m. For details, call J. Crispin (9843321154).
