TN players dominate

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu players dominated the 41st summer bridge Nationals which concluded at the Andhra Club here on Sunday.

B. Prabhakar, N.R. Kirubakara Moorthy, S. Sunderram, P. Sridhar, K.R. Venkataraman and R. Krishnan won the inter-State TCS-sponsored team event by a substantial margin of 49 imp with a 136-87 victory over West Bengal ‘A'.

The Tamil Nadu pair of S.K. Chari and D. Vijay bagged the Agarwala Trophy by a comfortable margin while the Gujarat duo of Ariz Anklesaria and P.V. Vahalia finished second. Sumit Mukherjee and Debabrata Mukherjee came third.

In the Ranga & Company-sponsored Consolation Prize Money event, V.J. Puranik and A.J. Puranik (North-South) and Sounak-Jourup (East-West) clinched the honours.

The Tamil Nadu combination of Kalyani Iswaran and R.N. Subramanian was second in the North-South direction while Ravi Raman and Devi Bhatnagar finished runner-up in the East-West position.
