Bangalore: The Peenya police recovered the body of a newborn boy from a drain in front of Lakshmi Bar in Rukmini Nagar near Peenya here on Monday. On noticing the body of the baby boy, which was wrapped in a polythene cover, the public informed the police. Investigations are on to trace those responsible for the incident. The body was dumped in the drain next to National Highway 4, said the Peenya police. Pillion rider dies A 25-year-old unidentified man, who was riding pillion on a two-wheeler died after the vehicle reportedly skidded off the road near Whitefield here on Sunday. According to sources, the victim was waiting for a bus near K.R. Puram and as he did not get one he hitched a ride on the motorcycle. According to the police, the rider of the vehicle, identified as Ranganatha Rao, a resident of K.R. Puram, is still unconscious in hospital. The two were found lying in a pool of blood near SAP Labs on Old Madras Road around 9.45 p.m. on Sunday. Passers-by rushed the duo to a nearby hospital, where the pillion rider died, the police said. The police suspect that the duo fell from vehicle when it skidded. An eye-witness reportedly told the police that the accident occurred when the rider tried to avoid a dog that was crossing the road. Knocked down Suresh Babu (30) of Doddaballapur died on the spot after a sand-laden truck rammed his vehicle near Kusthi Basappa Circle in Marasandra in Doddaballapur on Monday. The victim was an employee of HAL and was on his way to office. Following the accident, a large number of people, gathered at the accident spot and blocked the road for a while. The protestors urged the authorities concerned to install barricades near the speed breaker to control sand-laden trucks. They also allegedly hurled stones on sand-laden trucks.
