Painting exhibition begins

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: Impact of globalisation, contemporaneous feminist perceptions, and concern for traditional culture were among the subjects of expression that the young and old artists portrayed in their paintings at the camps organised by the Karnataka Lalithakala Academy at various places in the State during 2009-10.

Art lovers can have a glimpse of these paintings at Venkatappa Art Gallery on Kasturba Road till June 26 between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.

The exhibition of paintings of 50 artists was inaugurated here on Tuesday.

Suchitra Lingadalli's painting of mixed media manifestation representing contemporaneous feminist perception influenced by Bollywood, impact of globalisation by R.V. Devarushi, Umesh L. Rathod, and Shivananda Basavanthappa, and a painting of Buddha by B.P. Karthik were among some of the attractions.
