Kurnool
‘People who secured lease for seven acres, carried out mining on 18 acres' Issue brought to the notice of Wakf Board Chairman who ordered an inquiry KURNOOL: J. Rustum Khan, member of the TDP Kurnool constituency committee, has urged authorities to check illegal mining on Wakf land at Palkur village. Mr. Khan said the people who secured lease for seven acres, carried out mining on 18 acres. The Assistant Director of Mining, who noticed the violation, served notices on the leaseholders. The violation was taken to the notice of the Wak Board Chairman who ordered an inquiry by three members. But the panel made no progress so far. Mr. Khan alleged that the leaseholders had extracted raw material worth Rs. 25 crore so far. Even the seven-acre lease was illegally obtained as “muthavalli” was not competent to lease the property because mining disfigured the entire land. Mr. Rustum Khan urged the district administration to stop illegal mining on survey number 303. He threatened an agitation by the TDP Minority Cell if no action was taken.
