New V-C for BITS-Mesra

NEW DELHI: Prof. Ajay Chakrabarty has taken over as the new Vice-Chancellor of Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Mesra, Ranchi. He was so far Professor of Electronics and Communication Engineering and Dean, Continuing Education Programme, at the Institute. Prof. Chakrabarty has been associated with IIT Kharagpur for three decades and also with the University of Syracuse, US. Well-known in the domain of communications, especially antenna and microwave engineering, he has been the recipient of the INSA-COASTED Fellowship, under the URSI Young Scientist Award Scheme, recipient of the SEMCE (I) Award for contribution in teaching and research, and is Vice-Chairman of the Society of EMC Engineers, India. Established in 1955 by industrialist B. M. Birla, BITS-Mesra has seven centres in Jaipur, Patna, Kolkata, Deoghar, Lalpur, Noida and Allahabad in India and 3 centres at Bahrain, Muscat and Ras Al Khaimah.
