Polls to standing panels

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: Mayor S.K. Nataraj has said that the elections to the standing committees will be held on June 29 during the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Council meeting.

The elections have been delayed so far as the BBMP was keen on constituting 12 Standing Committees, given the increase in the area and number of wards.

He said that the elections to the Taxation and Finance Standing Committee would be held on June 29.

Sources said that the proposal to increase the number of standing committees to 12 would be discussed first in the Legislative Assembly and Council.

It will later be sent to the Governor for approval.
