Lokur appointed Gauhati High Court CJ

NEW DELHI: President Pratibha Patil has appointed Justice Madan Bhimarao Lokur, Judge of the Delhi High Court, as the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court. He succeeds Chief Justice R.S. Garg, who retired last week.

Justice Lokur (56) was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Delhi High Court in February 1999 and Permanent Judge in July 1999. He was the Acting Chief Justice of Delhi High Court for a brief period.

He is due to retire on December 31, 2015.
