PUDUCHERRY: Paddy back ended subsidy to the tune of Rs. 1.41 crore for 5,135 farmers for the sornavari season in 2009 has been distributed through the Office of the Additional Director of Agriculture (Training and Visit). A press release said a cheque for the last instalment was handed over by Chief Minister V. Vaithilingam to bank managers. The subsidy is proposed to be transferred to the farmers' accounts through electronic credit system. Mr. Vaithilingam had announced the payment of Rs. 4,000 per hectare as back ended subsidy for paddy growers in the last Assembly session, to increase the area under paddy cultivation.
