WARANGAL: The Congress leaders are out once again to hoodwink the people of Telangana region, alleged TDP leaders. The statements of APCC president D. Srinivas that if he gets elected he would bring separate Telangana were only aimed at deceiving the people of the region. Addressing at a press conference here on Wednesday, TDP leaders K Srihari, A. Basawa Reddy, S. Samma Rao and others, said Mr. Srinivas miserably failed to get a seat in the Legislative Council and even in Rajya Sabha but now promising to bring separate Telangana. “If he poses to be so powerful, Mr Srinivas should impress upon his party leader Sonia Gandhi to issue a statement on Telangana before the election schedule is announced,” they challenged. The Congress leaders of Telangana were not able to issue any favourable statement on the issue and were scared of public wrath. They apprehend to go to public. If they could succeed in getting a statement on Telangana issue, the TDP would not field its candidates and would also request TRS president K Chandrasekhara Rao not to contest the byelection. Mr Srihari said the Congress leaders have no moral right to seek votes in Telangana region as they miserably failed to protect the interests of the people. “We pointed out irregularities in irrigation projects. Now, the Congress leaders themselves point a finger at Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah who just amassed lots of wealth,” he pointed out. “The Congress leaders never opened their mouth on the rights of Telangana people. They remained as mere spectators fearing about their own political future. What will they do if people voted for them again,” Mr. Srihari sought to know urging people to reject Congress leaders.
