Capturing the spirit of Olympics

KOCHI: The heaviest rain in recent days did not deter them. Those students from different schools in the city were motivated enough to uphold the spirit of Olympics, like the torch, and complete the Olympic Day run in the city on Wednesday.

Olympic Day was marked to commemorate the creation of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on June 23, 1894. The IOC mooted the concept of the Olympic Day run in 1987 to promote sport among people from all walks of life.

M. Ramachandran, former Kerala High Court judge and Vice-Chairman (Judicial) of the principal bench of Central Administrative Tribunal, New Delhi, flagged off the run from Maharaja's College grounds.
