Friends of Police phone directory released

Coimbatore: A handy directory containing police station, officers' phone numbers besides numbers of emergency contacts such as ambulance and fire and rescue services was released by the Inspector-General of Police and Founder of Friends of Police, Prateep V. Phillip on Monday.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, CB-CID, R. Chakravarthy, and Roots Director, Kavidasan took part.

The directory is brought out by the Friends of Police in a bid to equip the visitors to Coimbatore for the World Classical Tamil Conference and more than two lakh copies are being made available at police stations for the benefit of the public.

The directory is expected to bridge the gap between the police and the public and make both of them stay in touch with each other opening a channel of communication to thwart law and order problems besides preventing crime, the organisers said.
