Sanyasins' plea

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A delegation of sanyasins led by Swami Vidyanandagiri met Devaswom Minister Kadannappally Ramachandran and urged him to drop the move to take over temples, madhoms and ashrams in Malabar.

The delegation told the Minister that the government and the Malabar Devaswom Board had issued an order to take over the Thrikaikottu Madhom at Tanur and 120 temples in the Malabar region. These institutions were being run according to the Hindu tradition and bringing them under a secular government was against the spirit of the Constitution.
