Man slits throat of girls, ends life

Staff Reporter

ADILABAD: In a gruesome incident, Ch. Lavan Kumar (25), a jilted lover from Jhansinagar colony of Srirampur town, slit the throat of a couple of girls from his neighbourhood and later committed suicide under a train in the wee hours of Thursday. The victims survived as they could be taken to a hospital in time.

According to the police, the student lab technician proposed his love for his neighbour Sk. Afsana. However, she is said to have refused.

On Thursday, Lavan Kumar entered Afsana's house apparently to plead with her to accept his love. On being refused, he slit her throat with the knife he perhaps carried on his person. He also slit the throat of B. Devakka who had come to the rescue of Afsana before escaping from the scene. The injured were shifted to a hospital where they are undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, the police found the dead body of Lavan Kumar on the railway track. He is deemed to have committed suicide by jumping under a passing train.
