Delegates given Tamil Software Tools CD

Coimbatore: Delegates and dignitaries to the World Classical Tamil Conference on Thursday had a pleasant surprise when they were given a compact disc containing Tamil Software Tools 2010.

It was developed by the Technology Development for Indian Languages Programme of the Department of Information Technology of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

The CD was given immediately after it was released by the Union Minister for Information Technology and Communications.

The CD contains software for installation such as Tamil Language Unicode Compliant Keyboard Driver, Tamil version of Bharateeya Open Office, Tamil version of web browser, Tamil version of e-mail client (Thunderbird), Arumbu keyboard driver with fonts, Arumbu write pad, Arumbu Ezhutholai besides writers and converter.

The pack mentions that it is for free distribution and not for sale.
