India beats Philippines

KOCHI: India boosted its chances of entering the premier division of the 20th FIBA Asian under-18 girls' basketball championship after defeating Philippines 88-63 at Surat Thani, Thailand, on Saturday.

It plays host Thailand, and given its good run in the event so far, has a good chance of topping the second division and fighting with the premier division's last two teams for an elite league berth in the next edition. — Principal Correspondent
