Bapatla: NCC cadets of 10 Andhra Girls Battalion under the leadership of Lt Col. SPS Cheema, Commandant of Annual Training Camp –IV, participated in a rally to create awareness against drug abuse and drug trafficking on the occasion of International Anti Drug Day here on Saturday. Col. A.S.N. Rao, Commander of NCC Group Headquarters, Guntur gave a speech about the drugs and its ill-effects and how to curb the menace. Collective efforts have to be made to rid the society of drug addiction, he asserted. About 300 cadets took part in the rally taken from Bapatla College of Arts and Science. After the rally, the cadets had debated the harmful effects of drug abuse and ways to prevent its intrusion into the society. The discussion helped the cadets in improving their own awareness and motivated them to say ‘no' to drugs. The cadets later took a pledge to abstain from drugs throughout their lives and also help others do the same.
