NAGAPATTINAM: Of the 1.50 lakh huts enumerated under the Kalaignar's Housing Scheme, over 6,000 huts were found to be on private lands such as lands that belonged to temple, church and mosque and trusts. Inorder to be considered under the scheme, such beneficiaries are required to secure a no objection certificate from the concerned entity that owns the land. According to a Collectorate press release, such entities that own the lands are requested to provide the poor beneficiaries with an NOC and enable them to avail concrete houses under the free housing scheme. Owners of the lands are requested to produce their NOCs to the concerned block development officers by June 30, the release stated.
