Confidence trickster turns chain-snatcher
Staff Reporter
CHENNAI: A 69-year-old woman R. Ahalya Rao lost her gold chain to a motorcycle-borne thief in Velu Street in West Mambalam on Saturday. According to police, the woman, a resident of Virugambakkam, had come to West Mambalam to visit a relative.
As she had difficulty in finding the address when she reached Brindavan Street, she approached a man who told her that he would drop her at the address on his motorcycle.
He dropped her off at Velu Street and told her that the house was across the road. As she turned away, the man snatched her gold chain and sped off. Ashok Nagar police have registered a case and are investigating.
