NEW DELHI: Vice-President M. Hamid Ansari released a book titled “A Brahmin Without Caste: Remembering Rishi Kumar Mishra” at a function organised by Observer Research Foundation here on Tuesday. The book is based on the life of the veteran journalist and former Editor of Patriot, R. K. Mishra.

‘Unique person'

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice-President said Mr. Mishra was a “unique person” and the book testifies this in ample measures. Mr. Mishra played an effective role in a very quiet way, he added.

The book, published by Rupa & Co. in association with Brahma Vidya Kendra, is a compilation of chapters penned by various contributors including eminent journalists, bureaucrats, academicians, industrialists, social scientists and intellectual luminaries.

Editor-in-Chief of The Hindu N. Ram, Reliance Industries Ltd Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani, former United States Deputy Secretary of State Strobe Talbott and former Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting and present MP Ravi Shankar Prasad among others have contributed to the book. It also includes chapters by the late Mr. Mishra's son Sanjeev Mishra and granddaughter Tanvi Mishra.

The foreword has been written by veteran journalist Saeed Naqvi.

Several dignitaries including Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee were present at the book release ceremony.
