Thiruvananthapuram
Thiruvananthapuram: The Thiruvananthapuram station of Gyan Vani FM radio channel, set up by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), will start local transmission from July 1. Regional Director, IGNOU, B. Sukumar said here on Wednesday that the station would offer value-added educational programmes for listeners in and around Thiruvananthapuram city. The programmes would be aired from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Gyan Vani is a unit of Gyan Darshan, IGNOU's educational TV channel. The programmes transmitted from the studio of All India Radio, Thiruvananthapuram can be heard on 105.6 MHz. Dr. Sukumar said efforts were on to set up an independent studio for Gyan Vani. A press note issued by IGNOU said Gyan Vani programmes were aimed at enhancing and supplementing the teaching-learning process.
