He is the fellow of World Academy of Productivity Science, Canada.

Dr. Maheshappa told The Hindu that the VTU had no teaching staff of its own even after 12 years of its existence and he would like to see that the university had its own teaching and non-teaching staff instead of the present practice of appointment on deputation or contract basis.
