State objects to Nityananda's plea to preach

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The State Government on Thursday objected to a petition by controversial godman Nityananda seeking relaxation of one of the bail conditions.

The High Court had some time ago granted bail to Nityananda. It had asked him not to preach and imposed other conditions.

Relaxation sought

Nityananda, who is back in his ashram at Dhynapeetam in Bidadi, near Bangalore, wanted the court to relax the condition relating to preaching. He said he wanted to preach and urged the court to permit him to do so.

The State Government opposed any relaxation of the bail condition.

Justice Subash B. Adi asked the State to file objections and adjourned further hearing of the case.
