TIRUNELVELI: Normal life will be ensured in the district during the Opposition-sponsored bandh to be observed on July 5 by ensuring adequate security measures at all levels, Collector M. Jayaraman has assured.
Chairing a meeting held at the Collectorate on Friday to decide on the security arrangements to be made in view of the Opposition-called bandh on July 5, Mr. Jayaraman said the security arrangement to be made by the police should ensure the smooth functioning of the official machinery and the maintenance of law and order in the district.
Those who resort to violence and damage public properties to trigger fear among the public should be mercilessly dealt with.
While ensuring normal functioning of essential services such as healthcare, supply of milk, drinking water and newspapers, telecommunication etc., additional security should be provided to vital installations such as oil depots, railway bridges, places of worship, Tami Nadu Electricity Board sub-stations etc.
He said extensive arrangements should be made to ensure normal functioning of educational institutions and offices.
